Revisions to B.C.’s wills and estates law – March 31, 2014
Revisions to B.C.’s wills and estates law is finally coming into force next March 31, 2014! See the below article released from the Government of B.C. This legislation update is a long time coming. Some highlights of the changes include shortening and simplifying the probate process, lowers the age at which a person can make a will to 16 (from 19) and clarifies the process when a person dies without leaving a will. Note the new legislation will not invalidate previously signed wills, however you may want to have these reviewed to ensure your wishes are still upheld under the new law.
