What about Fido?
Whether you own dogs, cats or even horses, you’re likely concerned about the future care of your pet after your death. Rest assured, we can assist you in navigating this.
Pet provisions in your will can vary and there are a few things to consider. Firstly, who would you like to care for your pet upon your passing? If you’re married or in a marriage-like relationship, your partner is likely to remain the guardian of your pet. However, it is always best to appoint an alternate guardian.
Secondly, you may wish to allocate a certain amount of money for care of your pet, to limit any financial hardships that may arise. The funds can be distributed in one lump sum or distributed over time; the choice is yours! We understand just how expensive pets can be (in fact nearly all the Touchstone family are pet-owners!) so we understand the importance of ensuring there are ample resources available to the guardian of your pet.
